CONFERENCE SASSARI

ECSLAND CONFERENCE, 23-24 April 2015, University of Sassari

The ECSLAND Conference was a great success and a fitting tribute to Professor Oliver Rackham, who was remembered not only as a brilliant scholar, but as a personal friend by many at the conference. Keynote speaker, Maguelonne Dejeant Pons of the European Landscape Convention, opened the conference stressing the importance of the ECSLAND project in contributing to the aims of the Convention. After an overview of the ECSLAND Project given by Project Coordinator Professor Gloria Pungetti, sacred landscape case studies in Europe were presented and discussed. Conference highlights were the Spiritual Circle, the University of Sassari Choir and the vocal performance of Tara Jaffar at the gala dinner, evoking each of the different landscapes presented earlier in the day.
