FIELD TRIP S. FRANCESCO

Island of San Francesco del Deserto in the Venetian lagoon, miles away from the crowds in San Marco Square. A haven of peace and tranquility with a tiny community of Franciscan priests, the island is rich in beauty and spirituality. It is said that San Francesco, on his way back from the Orient aboard a Venetian sailing ship, chose to stop here to meditate, pray and reflect in silence. Visitors today are still drawn to the island for the same reasons.
